Just4parents - I (Nicolas) took my son Gabriel on the Fathers and Son's bushcraft weekend, run by Ben Gold and Adrian Reid Wolf, on a remote farm in Devon. Really back to nature: cooking on open fires, unplugged from the speedy digital monster of modern life with no electricity, mobile phones, internet, electronic games or TV. Really back to basics. The group of boys formed a tight knit communal group and learnt to support and appreciate each other's gifts as amongst other things, as father's and sons, we built shelters in the forest only with a camping knife, made fire without matches, cooked food underground and learnt how to survive in the woods. It really built up Gabriel's self esteem in the company of older boys, brought him more into himself. We're hooked and are going to go again as it enabled us to bond more closely.
